Vranckx set for British series debut with title-winning car

Reigning FIA RX2e Champion Viktor Vranckx will join the headlining class in the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy for a selected programme of events in 2023 with his VMV Racing team.

In his maiden campaign on the international rallycross scene, Vranckx dominated the early stages of the 2022 RX2e season, winning the opening two rounds and thereafter never missing the podium as he clinched the crown with a second-place finish in the Catalunya finale.

As he continues to gain experience in the dual-surface discipline, the Belgian teenage prodigy has announced that he will contest the 2023 British Championship curtain-raiser at Lydden Hill on 8-10 April. There, Vranckx will  take on the country’s finest Supercar talent behind the wheel of his title-winning RX2e car, developed by Spanish electro-mobility specialist QEV Technologies and generating 250kW (equivalent to 335bhp) and up to 510Nm torque.  

While this will mark the 17-year-old’s first time competing at Lydden Hill – a circuit he initially visited as a child, and one that will return to the World Championship schedule in July – he is no stranger when it comes to going directly up against internal combustion machinery in his electric ‘pocket rocket’, having successfully done so in RallyX Nordic last year.

“I’m very excited to race in 5 Nations BRX at Lydden Hill – the first time an electric car will be raced in the series’ Supercar category,” enthused Vranckx. “I had an amazing first season in RX2e last year and I really enjoyed racing against the Supercars in RallyX Nordic.

“To start my 2023 rallycross season at Lydden Hill – where I went many times as a kid in the paddock – and race there in the Easter Weekend event will be very special for me and my family.”
