Teješ has ‘never felt so motivated’ after stellar season in Euro RX3

Only two drivers reached every final over the course of the opening four rounds of the 2025 Euro RX3 campaign. One of them was Rytis Gurklys, who would go on to challenge João Ribeiro for the championship crown. The other was rising Czech racer Libor Teješ.

The Prague native first tested his mettle on the international stage at Nyirád last year, turning heads with his raw pace straight off the bat in his Audi A1 and advancing to the final just three weeks later at Mettet. Returning to the grid at Lousada back in May, he wasted no time at all in picking up from where he had left off.

After placing a superb third in the intermediate ranking in Portugal behind only home heroes Ribeiro and Joaquim Machado – in a bumper 17-strong field, the largest of the season – Teješ proceeded to finish fifth in the final and second-best amongst the ‘non-locals’.

The 22-year-old – a multiple rallycross and autocross champion on the Czech domestic scene – replicated that result at Höljes’ ‘Magic Weekend’, missing out on topping the Euro RX3 timesheets in Q3 in Sweden by a single tenth-of-a-second. Hungary’s ‘Red Cauldron’, Nyirád, yielded sixth position before Teješ fell less than a quarter-of-a-second shy of the rostrum at Finland’s KymiRing, where he took the chequered flag fourth.

That left the Biba Racing ace fifth in the standings – just six points adrift of the top three. While he did not contest the final round in Türkiye, a tally of eight top five qualifying performances – including a trio of second places – bore testament to a seriously impressive season.

“It was beyond our expectations,” Teješ reflects. “It was our first ‘full-time’ assault on the FIA European Rallycross Championship, and I probably gained more experience from it than from anything else I’ve ever done. It taught me how to overcome my limits and enabled me to establish a healthy self-confidence. Of course, it wasn’t all rosy – it had its ups-and-downs – but difficult times only serve to make you stronger.

“The biggest highlight for me was the very first round, because I’d never previously raced in Portugal and I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and the layout of the track. With so many competitors there, we really didn’t expect to finish fifth!

“I try hard to be as consistent as possible because I believe that is the key to success; when the lap times between drivers are sometimes just the blink of an eye apart, consistency is crucial and to reach the final in every round we entered and challenge for the podium was really satisfying. That convinced us that we have what it takes and inspired us to keep pushing.

“Next season, we want to participate in every Euro RX event and take things a step further by really fighting for top positions and wins. I’ve never felt so motivated and full of strength, and we will do everything in our power to make it happen!”
