Teenage talent Meunier ‘ready to fight’ as he joins Euro RX3 grid

Precociously talented French teenager Julien Meunier will enter the FIA European Rallycross Championship for the first time in 2026, vowing to leave ‘nothing to chance’ in his bid to be ‘close to perfection’ in his rookie campaign in Euro RX3.
Perfection is far from an alien concept for Meunier, whose elder brother, Damien, made sporadic appearances on the international scene in the RX2 Series in 2019 and FIA RX2e Championship two years later.
The younger of the two siblings was denied a sensational victory by mechanical gremlins in his maiden rallycross outing in late 2021, in the Italian Championship at Maggiora. The next time he took to the track the following month, he made amends – and history – by becoming the youngest French driver ever to step onto a Super1600 category podium in the Belgian Championship at Mettet, at the age of only 15.
Meunier confirmed his status as a rising star by similarly reaching the rostrum in the domestic series at Mayenne in 2022, prior to breaking another record a year later as the youngest driver ever to win a round of the French Championship in Super1600 at Châteauroux. He triumphed again at Kerlabo and Lohéac on his way to clinching the coveted crown in his first full season.

The Pont-de-Ruan native repeated the feat in 2024 – despite having to battle back from a mechanical issue in the curtain-raising contest – as he produced a peerless performance to tally five victories from eight rounds, grittily holding his nerve to lift the laurels for a second consecutive season at the conclusion of a tense finale weekend.
In recent years, Meunier has continued to excel on the wider European scene – adding more silverware to his collection and titles to his burgeoning CV in the Supercar Lites class in 2025 – while simultaneously testing his mettle at Supercar level, showcasing his impressive versatility and adaptability by achieving a podium finish in the French Championship at Châteauroux last June.
Buoyed by that stellar run of success, the 19-year-old is now preparing to return to his roots while taking on an altogether new challenge as he embarks upon a full campaign of competition in Euro RX3. He will do so behind the wheel of the same Audi A1 driven to glory by João Ribeiro last season, prepared and run by family outfit, KMS by Meunier Competition.
“I truly appreciate how far I’ve come to get here,” acknowledged Meunier, who grew up surrounded by the dual-surface discipline and whose passion for it was further fuelled by playing DiRT Rally long before he set foot inside a car for real.

“I’ve always lived to the rhythm of racing and rallycross – since I was young, I’ve dreamt of one day following in the footsteps of my idols and becoming a great champion in the sport – and competing in the European Championship is a dream come true for me.
“I’m approaching the season ahead with a calm mindset. I’m concentrating on my physical preparation and working a lot on the car with my family, who will once again be an unwavering support. I’m not the type to put pressure on myself, but I know this is probably a pivotal year for my career, so nothing will be left to chance.
“The level will be high, and I’m certainly expecting some intense battles! I’ll need to be very smart throughout the six race weekends and build the season in the best way possible. The European Championship is still that old-school rallycross – and that’s what I love!

“I clearly have a lot to learn, not least of which the car and several new circuits, but it goes without saying that I’d love to win a few races. I’m particularly looking forward to Lohéac. The atmosphere there is so unique, and I have no doubt the French fans will show up in force. Representing my country in a European round will be something very special.
“Ultimately, my primary goal is consistency, because if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past three years, it’s that championships are won that way. I also want to focus as much as possible on the quality of my driving, to reach something close to perfection. I’m ready to fight!”
Following the season-opener at the historic Biķernieku trase in the Latvian capital of Rīga on 9-10 May, Euro RX competitors will go on to lock horns at Nyirád in Hungary (30-31 May), Höljes in Sweden (4-5 July), Mondello Park in Ireland (18-19 July), Lohéac in France (29-30 August) and finally Lousada in Portugal, where champions will be crowned on 12-13 September.
