Anthony Pelfrene

Anthony Pelfrene, World RX of Portugal 2025

A comparatively late starter in the sport, Anthony Pelfrene only began racing in his thirties, initially participating in cross-country events and placing third in-class in North Africa’s Rallye du Maroc in 2017.

He made his rallycross debut in 2021, piloting a Renault Clio to multiple victories in the Coupe de France. The following year, the Pontoise native climbed to second in the standings, prior to graduating to the French Rallycross Championship’s headlining Supercar division in 2023.

Once again, it did not take him long to find his feet, triumphing in only the second round of the season and securing three further podiums from eight starts to wind up third in the title table. He subsequently showcased his skills on the ice by matching that result in the Elite category of the famous Trophée Andros.

On the international scene, Pelfrene joined the FIA European Rallycross Championship on home soil at Lohéac in 2021 before returning to the fray at Montalegre two years later, going fifth-fastest in one of the heats in Portugal and advancing to the semi-final stage in challenging and changeable weather conditions.

In 2024, he stepped up to the World Championship for the first time for the inaugural campaign of the ‘Battle of Technologies’, behind the wheel of a latest-generation, sustainably-fuelled combustion Peugeot 208 WRX fielded by French rallycross heavyweight DA Racing under the JDM Raptor Racing banner. After tallying a best result of seventh place, Pelfrene went on to contest the 2025 World RX curtain-raiser at Lousada.
