Russia’s Aydar Nuriev clinched the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 in the final round of the 2019 season at the Neste World RX of Latvia.

The Volland Racing driver took the title by taking TQ (top qualifier) position in the Intermediate Classification, before he finished sixth in semi-final one after first corner contact.

Hungary’s Gergely Marton secured second in the points before the final and started on pole position, but like his team mate was spun out of contention at turn 1. Russia’s Egor Sanin took up the advantage and led the final from Russia’s Arthur Egorov on lap 1, but an early joker lap for Russia’s Timur Shigabutdinov – and a technical failure for Sanin’s Renault Twingo – meant it was Shigabutdinov who took the win in front of Egorov and Estonia’s Janno Ligur. Switzerland’s Yuri Belevskiy finished in P4.

In the final round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercar, DA Racing’s Jean-Baptiste Dubourg came out on top in the battle for the runner-up position in the championship behind Champion Robin Larsson. Norway’s Thomas Bryntesson strengthened his hold on P2 in the points with TQ in the Intermediate Classification, but contact with Hungary’s Attila Mozer at the start of semi-final 1 caused damage to his Volkswagen Polo’s left rear suspension and he retired.

Dubourg went on win semi-final 2 and the final, in a 1-2 finish for the DA Racing team, with Andrea Dubourg in P2 and Sweden’s Peter Hedstrom in P3. Holjes World RX winner Sebastian Eriksson drove and Eklund Motorsport Volkswagen Beetle and was in a podium position but spun in the final. He finished P4, with Norway’s Sondre Evjen in P5 and Sweden’s Linus Westman in P6.
