New FIA World Rallycross Championship team ESmotorsport is offering a financial incentive to its driver for 2019, if they can finish in the top three in the Drivers’ points with the new Skoda Fabia WRX.

ESmotorsport owner Ernestas Staponkus, himself a former FIA European Rallycross Championship podium contender knows what’s required to compete with some of the best in the sport, the likes of Reinis Nitiss in Super1600. Lithuania’s Staponkus is offering a half-million euros incentive for the team’s yet to be announced driver for finishing inside the top three next year. “You must have a bit of healthy aggression I would say if you want to win. If you are not brave enough, it’s not going to work. I believe that every driver’s aim is fighting for victory, but this bonus will help to increase motivation even more. It’s a win-win situation” he said.

Ramunas Fetingis is excited about the project after recently recruiting technical director Sebastien Lesonneur, who worked with Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud and the EKS Audi Sport team in 2018. “We are sure that we have a car capable to achieve the top three result. That was proved during our tests in Riga, in September. With the very fresh car we achieved very promising lap times” said Fetingis.

The team’s official test driver, Kevin Abbring, is also pleased with the progress of the Fabia’s development. “That is really a very fast car. I am enjoying it driving every kilometer. This is not only a job, it’s a lot of fun too,” he said.
