Scheider ‘addicted’ to Lohéac and ‘ready to fight for the podium’

As he returns to the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Lohéac this weekend (3-5 September), ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport’s Timo Scheider has promised to ‘fight for the podium’ at the track where it all began.

As he returns to the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Lohéac this weekend (3-5 September), ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport’s Timo Scheider has promised to ‘fight for the podium’ at the track where it all began.

Scheider’s very first experience of driving a rallycross car came at the popular Breton circuit back in 2015, and since making his World RX debut later that same year, the German has gone on to establish himself as one of the leading protagonists at the international pinnacle of the discipline, reaching the rostrum in Barcelona in 2017 and again at Höljes last year.

In the 2021 curtain-raiser in Catalunya, Scheider looked a likely bet to add to his podium tally after securing third spot in the intermediate classification, but a clash at the start of his semi-final brought his challenge to a premature conclusion. This weekend, he is determined to finish the job.

“Six years ago, everything started for me in World RX right here at Lohéac, when ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport gave me the opportunity to test their car,” reflected the two-time DTM Champion. “I’m really addicted to this track, and our pace was great here in 2019 as well so I’m definitely looking forward to the weekend.

“We were quite quick in the season-opener in Barcelona, so I’m hoping we can surprise again but our first goal has to be to get through to the final, because the competition at the front in World RX this year is super tough. We need to try to have clean runs in the qualifying stages, and if we can do that, everything is possible. We are ready to fight for the podium.”
