Fourteen drivers will do battle for glory in the final event of the 2021 FIA World Rallycross Championship campaign, following the publication of the official entry list for World RX of Germany at the Nürburgring (27/28 November).

A five-way fight is in prospect for the honour of being crowned world champion at the iconic Eifel Mountains venue, with Timmy Hansen, Johan Kristoffersson, Kevin Hansen and Niclas Grönholm all blanketed by just 29 points at the summit of the standings – and Krisztián Szabó also still mathematically in the hunt.

Indeed, GRX-SET World RX Team duo Grönholm and Szabó will be piloting two of four Hyundai i20s in the field, marking the first time in World Championship history that so many of the South Korean manufacturer’s cars have contested the same event.

Similarly flying the Hyundai flag, Anton Marklund rejoins the fray after his previous World RX outing with Hedströms Motorsport at Spa-Francorchamps, and former front-runner Davy Jeanney returns to action more than three years on from his last appearance at the pinnacle of the discipline.

Kevin Abbring will be back in Unkorrupted’s Renault Mégane, with new Euro RX3 Champion Yury Belevskiy preparing for his World Championship bow in a Volland Racing Audi S1. Tamás Kárai – seventh in the Euro RX1 classification this season – will test his mettle at the highest level for the first time since the Catalunya curtain-raiser, while Stefan Kristensson makes his debut in a Ford Fiesta.

In addition to staging the title-decider, the weekend will mark the final time combustion-engined cars compete in the premier class before the switch to electric propulsion in 2022 – meaning a little piece of history is also up for grabs.

The entry list for RX2e – the first-ever electric FIA rallycross championship – will be revealed at a later date.
