The official entry lists have been published for Ferratum World RX of Rīga next month (18-19 September), featuring two local stars and setting the scene for a sensational weekend of high-speed action in the Latvian capital.

Rīga will stage rounds four and five of the 2021 FIA World Rallycross Championship campaign, and the third of four outings on the FIA European Rallycross Championship’s Euro RX1 calendar.

Located on the outskirts of the country’s capital city, the Biķernieki track has been a popular fixture on the World RX schedule since 2016, with a long gravel section through the wooded infield and no fewer than three jumps making it an instant favourite amongst both drivers and fans.

The World Championship is heating up nicely after the second round of the season at Höljes in Sweden last weekend, with a tantalising title fight in prospect between Hansen brothers Timmy and Kevin and KYB EKS JC rival Johan Kristoffersson, who has endured a tough start to the campaign due to penalties and punctures, but whose raw speed is certainly not in doubt.

In addition to the permanent competitors, Juha Rytkönen and Timo Scheider will also head into battle in Latvia, while ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport has added a second SEAT Ibiza to its entry for a yet-to-be-named driver.

In Euro RX1, 24 protagonists will take to the track and – if the Swedish curtain-raiser is any indication – a sensational scrap awaits, with numerous potential winners and podium-finishers.

Buoyed by his Höljes triumph following a year of engine issues, Thomas Bryntesson returns to the fray in his stunning, Gulf Oil-liveried Volkswagen Polo, while French brothers Jean Baptiste ‘JB’ and Andréa Dubourg and Fabien and Jonathan Pailler were all on the pace in Sweden and will be sure to challenge once again.

Much the same can be said for ESMotorsport pairing Andreas Bakkerud and home hero Jānis Baumanis in the Lithuanian outfit’s brace of Škoda Fabias. The Norwegian reached the rostrum on his 11th-hour series return last weekend, while the Latvian is sure to enjoy the lion’s share of the partisan crowd’s support. Edijs Ošs is another local driver aiming to shine as he joins the field in a similar car.

All of the action and behind-the-scenes stories from Ferratum World RX of Rīga can be followed live and in glorious HD quality on RX+
