Jean Baptiste ‘JB’ Dubourg is confident about fighting for victory in Bretagne World RX of Lohéac today (05 September), as he endeavours to turn the tables on Saturday pace-setter Andreas Bakkerud in Euro RX1.
Dubourg enters the final day of the event sitting second in the standings behind overnight leader Andreas Bakkerud, backed up by younger brother Andréa just behind in third. With the support of the enthusiastic home fans behind them, the DA Racing duo are bullish about their prospects for success as they continue their pursuit of the coveted crown.
“I struggled a little bit for pace at the beginning of the weekend, but we made some adjustments and yesterday was a consistent day for me,” reflected 34-year-old ‘JB’, who reached the rostrum in the World Championship at Lohéac in 2015. “Tyre strategy is very important here, and I think we are in good shape in that respect. I really want to win this event and to fight hard against Andreas. I’m aiming for the top step, 100 per cent.”
“I’m happy to be sitting third after two qualifying rounds,” added Andréa. “Lohéac is very different to other circuits on the Euro RX1 calendar. The grip level is very high and we know that French drivers are very strong at this track, so we need to stay focussed, all the more so since our bigger goal is ultimately the championship.”
