Filip Thorén began karting at the age of seven, racing in national events for several years before taking a break from motorsport and rejoining the fray in the traditional Swedish discipline of folkrace in 2018.
With his interest reignited, Thorén entered the Junior Swedish Rallycross Championship two years later. In his maiden campaign, he placed sixth overall behind the wheel of a BMW E36. He kick-started 2021 with a podium finish at Höljes, but mixed fortunes thereafter restricted him to eighth in the final standings.
Thorén made his RX2e debut at Spa-Francorchamps midway through the series’ inaugural season.
