After beginning his career in the discipline of autocross in his homeland, Timur Shigabutdinov made his FIA European Rallycross Championship debut in 2012, scoring points in all-bar two events on his way to ninth in the end-of-season classification in the Super1600 (now RX3) category. In 2013, he piloted a SET Promotion Renault Twingo to fifth overall, achieving his maiden podium finish in the final round in Germany.
He reached the rostrum again the next year in Belgium, adding three further podiums to his tally in 2015 following a switch to a Renault Clio, resulting in sixth in the Drivers’ standings. After SET Promotion returned to the Twingo in 2016, the Russian enjoyed his most competitive campaign to-date, winding up equal-third in the points table, but 2017 and 2018 would prove to be less successful seasons. In 2019, Shigabutdinov moved to Volland Racing, with his breakthrough victory in the Latvian finale confirming a return to form. After sitting out the 2020 campaign, he rejoins the fray in Volland’s Audi A1 in the renamed RX3 class in 2021.
