Kobe Pauwels joined the FIA World Rallycross Championship package off the back of a successful formative career in karting that notably yielded the European Championship crown and seventh place in the World Championship in 2016.
Two years later, the Belgian secured the runner-up spoils in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy before dipping his toe into the water in rallycross in 2019 with outings in Belgium’s CrossCar Junior series – winning the title – and the European CrossCar Championship.
After gaining further experience in RallyX Nordic in 2020, Pauwels stepped up again to make his full-time car racing debut in Euro RX’s RX3 class in 2021 with front-running outfit Volland Racing. A trio of rostrum results were highlighted by a hard-fought maiden victory at Lohéac, as he challenged more experienced team-mate Yury Belevskiy throughout on his way to second position in the overall standings. He subsequently joined the all-electric FIA RX2e Championship for the season finale at the Nürburgring, only narrowly missing out on a podium finish.
