João Ribeiro began his motorsport career on two wheels, competing in bike racing from 1999 until he switched to cars in 2016.
Entering the national rallycross series with a Super1600 (now RX3) Citroën Saxo, and underscoring his fast-learning capabilities, Ribeiro went on to be crowned champion four times between 2017 and 2021.
The Portuguese ace debuted in the FIA European Rallycross Championship in Barcelona in 2020, reaching the final on both days behind the wheel of a Škoda Fabia. He rejoined the fray on home soil at Montalegre the following year, racing to an eighth-place finish in the 14-strong field before trading his Fabia for an Audi A1 in 2022.
