BREAKING: Kristoffersson wins seventh title in Türkiye

Johan Kristoffersson has clinched his seventh FIA World Rallycross Championship crown after heat two on the opening day of action in Istanbul (9 November).

After following Niclas Grönholm home for a second-place finish in heat one, KMS - HORSE Powertrain star Kristoffersson then sealed the deal in heat two by beating Kevin Hansen, the only driver who could still deny him the laurels, with a hard-fought victory that included committed overtaking moves on Grönholm and both Hansens along the way.

His hard-fought success saw the Swede replicate the achievement of Formula 1 hero Lewis Hamilton, who similarly secured his seventh FIA world championship title at Istanbul Park Circuit in 2020.

“Is it done already? I didn’t know!” Kristoffersson responded when given the news straight afterwards. “What a race to secure the championship – simply unbelievable. That was so much fun, with a lot of great battles. What a year we’ve had – it’s going to take some time for this to sink in. Seven world championship titles – just wow!”
