When David Coulthard recently took on a Scandinavian
road trip in his Oracle Red Bull Racing RB7, one point of call
along the way was to visit
Timmy and and Kevin Hansen. It did not take too long for a plan to be hatched by
Timmy and for Kevin to jump onboard (literally) – leading to two epic days of
fun.
From their dream collection of vehicles, two
Zeroid X1 RX2e cars were charged up and a plan was formulated: simultaneously
leap Coulthard’s F1 car from opposing directions, creating an image worthy of
the Louvre.
But working with a run-up of just 30 metres,
this was not something that was going to come together with one jump, or indeed
in one day.
The short run-in almost had a catostrophic outcome on
the second attempt when Timmy only just made it across the gap: “I have never landed short before and
it really isn’t something you want to do.
“I was lucky though; five more
centimetres and it could have been much worse. It definitely stuck in my mind
over night.
“The gravel made it hard to get
traction, which in turn made it hard to reach 100kph in time for the jump. We could have
done with the run-in being longer, especially for my jump, which was the
highest of the two,” recalled Timmy.
Following some overnight
adaptations with the brother remaining heavily involved in the process, it was
back to work the next morning. This time, they were successful.
“It couldn’t have gone any better. It feels like winning a race, just so
flipping good,” expressed Timmy.
For Kevin, it was an equally satisfying
achievement. He said: “You are proper nervous before, especially with getting
the timings right and stuff. And then you get the “let’s go” over the radio and
you put the foot to the floor. You’re so focused. Then when you realise that
you’ve nailed it, I mean, it’s just such a cool feeling.”
Another highlight of the trip was
an epic ‘convoy’ on a closed forest road, with the RX2e cars flanking
Coulthard. Check out Hansens’ social media channels to see more of this epic
adventure.
