After narrowly missing out on reaching the Euro RX3 final at Montalegre in 2022 – placing seventh in the 14-strong field – Machado went one better the following year in his Citroën C2, the same car with which he subsequently clinched the national crown at Super1600 level.
In 2024, the 41-year-old Lousada native has switched to a Peugeot 208, which he is looking forward to putting through its paces on the European stage for the first time this weekend.
“I’m hoping to make the most of the event, and just like last year, to reach the final as that was a historic moment for me,” Machado said. “This is always an event that brings different sensations compared to the national championship, as it has all the media attention, full stands and pure competition. We are aiming to put on a good show with our new car.”
