Henriques is one of the rising stars on the
domestic motorsport scene. The recently-turned 18-year-old from Pombal is a
front-runner in the National KartCross Championship – with a rookie trophy
already to his name – and is excited to make his international debut at World
RX of Portugal.
“I want to enjoy the experience as much as
possible and do my best,” Henriques remarked. “My experience is limited and we
are only going to have a small shakedown test at Lousada, but the aim is to
have fun and get as far as possible.”
Dias, by contrast, is no stranger to the event,
having competed in Euro RX3 at Montalegre
in each of the most recent three seasons. The 45-year-old Lousada native
clinched the national A1600 class crown in
2016 and 2017, and last year, sped to glory in the S1600 division of the
Portuguese Cup.
“This will be a new experience that I have wanted to try for some time now, as
the next step in my career is to move up to Supercars,” Dias explained. “It
will be an excellent challenge for my skills, and having as much fun as
possible is the main goal!”
Henriques and Dias’ inclusion in the field
means that for the first time, three of the four categories at World RX of
Portugal will feature homegrown drivers.
