Taylor returns to RX2e with Hansen junior team #YellowSquad

Buoyed by the progress she made during her brace of FIA RX2e Championship appearances last season, Molly Taylor has confirmed she will rejoin the grid for a further two outings in the all-electric single-spec series in 2024 – beginning at Höljes’ legendary ‘Magic Weekend’ (6-7 July).

Taylor made her rallycross debut at Mettet last summer with Hansen Motorsport junior outfit #YellowSquad, in a high-calibre field that included FIA World Rallycross Champions Johan Kristoffersson and Timmy Hansen.

The 36-year-old Sydney native returned at Germany’s Estering a fortnight later, where she improved from 12th overall to eighth, gaining valuable experience along the way. Now, she is set for a new challenge as she prepares to tackle two circuits she has never previously driven, in the shape of Höljes next weekend and subsequently Montalegre in Portugal, which will stage the season finale on 7-8 September.

Taylor will line up once more alongside Isak Sjökvist – the 2022 and 2023 RX2e championship runner-up – and will continue to benefit from the support and advice of #YellowSquad Team Principal Kevin Hansen, her team-mate in off-road series Extreme E.

“I’m delighted to be driving in RX2e again for two rounds this season, and I want to say a huge thank you to E.ON Next for their continued support of my racing career,” commented the former Australian Rally Champion and inaugural Extreme E champion.

“It’s great to be working with Kevin, and this is an opportunity to hone my racecraft with Hansen Motorsport and the #YellowSquad team. I had my first taste of rallycross last season and I learnt a lot, so I’m looking forward to putting everything I experienced back into practice.”

“We are very happy to have a star like Molly back!” added #YellowSquad Team Manager, Eric Färén. “We all really enjoyed our two rounds together last year, and Molly knew straightaway that she wanted to come back this year for more. Now we are more prepared, and with this extra experience she will be even quicker!”

Taylor will be eager to build upon the legacy of female success in both rallycross and the Hansen team. Susann Hansen, Manager of Hansen World RX Team, became the first and so far only female to win a European Rallycross title when she secured the 1400 Cup crown in 1994.

Following the Swedish season-opener, the RX2e campaign will continue with World Championship-accompanying rounds at Nyirád in Hungary (27-28 July), Mettet in Belgium (17-18 August) and Montalegre.
