Wlömer signs up for full season of RX2e with great expectations

Rising German racing star Luka Wlömer will make his rallycross debut at Höljes’ ‘Magic Weekend’ in just under a fortnight’s time (6-7 July), after signing up to contest the FIA RX2e Championship in 2024.

Having been competing since the age of five, Wlömer has fast been making a name for himself on the domestic motorsport scene. The Berlin native tallied back-to-back titles in the German Electric Kart Championship (DEKM) in 2020 and Porsche Sprint Challenge in 2021, when he achieved no fewer than eight victories in his maiden campaign in cars.

He subsequently stepped up again to the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, but a test outing in the ZEROID X1 in France two months ago prompted him to re-evaluate his career direction.

Wlömer will duly take to the track with ZEROID Motorsport for the forthcoming RX2e curtain-raiser in Sweden – and while acknowledging that it will be a learning season for him in the dual-surface discipline, he is equally clear that he will not be holding anything back...

“I’m super happy to have the possibility to race in RX2e this year,” the 22-year-old enthused. “It’s a series that initially came to my attention back in 2021, since when I have always kept a close eye on it.

“I loved the ZEROID X1 when I drove it for the first time. I really like the technology and how the car works on-track. The most fun aspect for me has been the weight transfer and handling under braking and acceleration. I feel like I’ve adapted to it quite quickly, and I’m already really enjoying pushing it to the limit.

“It will be a big challenge, but I plan to give it my all and I’m aiming for a successful first season with hopefully some wins. Ultimately, I want to become the first German champion in RX2e!”
