Dufas considering Montalegre outing in upgraded Renault

Euro RX3’s newest event-winner, Dylan Dufas, is targeting a return to the FIA European Rallycross Championship at Montalegre later this summer.

Dufas pulled off one of the surprises of last season when he triumphed in only his third outing on the international stage at Germany’s Estering, having never previously progressed beyond the heats.

The Frenchman – Junior Champion on the domestic rallycross scene in 2019 – had been due to contest the 2024 Euro RX curtain-raiser on home soil at Essay prior to the event’s unexpected withdrawal from the FIA International Sporting Calendar.

Having subsequently re-evaluated his objectives for the current campaign, Dufas is now setting his sights on the season finale instead, at Portugal’s Circuito Internacional de Montalegre on 7-8 September.

“What happened with the Euro RX round at Essay was obviously a big disappointment for us, because we had prepared extremely well and had it gone well, it could have had a real impact on the remainder of our season,” the 27-year-old Caen native told French website Pure Rallycross.

“We really wanted to find out if we could pick up performance-wise from where we left off at the Estering last year, and see how our Renault shapes up now against Volland Racing’s Audi A1 after the development programme we conducted over the winter. I’m hopeful that we can make another entry for Montalegre, but nothing has been decided yet.”
