Multi-tasking maestro Kristoffersson set for ‘backyard’ ERC debut

Six-time FIA World Rallycross Champion Johan Kristoffersson will warm up for the series’ fast-approaching 2024 campaign by making his FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) debut on home soil next month.

Kristoffersson is no stranger to rallying – as a podium-finisher in both WRC2 and WRC3 – and he will be back behind the wheel for BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia, round three of the current ERC season on 13-15 June.

The fast-paced gravel event will take place in the versatile Swede’s native Värmland region, and he will contest it in a Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS Polo GTI R5 run by his family team, Kristofferson Motorsport. He will be co-driven by Norway’s Stig Rune Skjaermoen, who partnered him to the runner-up spoils in the Swedish Rally Championship in 2019.

“Our loyal sponsor BAUHAUS unexpectedly asked if I wanted to jump in and compete in high-level rallying, and I accepted,” explained Kristoffersson. “I haven’t driven a proper gravel rally in the forest for five years, so expectations are low.

“It would have been nice to prepare properly, but that’s simply not possible due to other commitments; we’ve only found time for one day's testing, so we’ll take it as it comes. It’s cool to team up with Stig Rune again – we had great time together in 2019 – and it’ll be fun to be the underdog for a change!”
