Having ably proved that she deserves her place on the FIA World Rallycross Championship grid during the course of her rookie campaign in 2022, Klara Andersson went into her sophomore season in the top-flight bidding to build upon that promising start. She more than succeeded.
There might not have been any headline-grabbing podium finishes this time, but there was much greater consistency, as Andersson continued to close the gap to her illustrious – and largely more experienced – adversaries. In the Portuguese curtain-raiser, the young Swede got the better of motorsport legend Sébastien Loeb; next time out in Norway, she placed a season-high fourth, just one spot shy of the rostrum.
While her home event at Höljes was a bit of a struggle – for the entire CE Dealer Team, in fact, with neither Andersson nor stablemate Niclas Grönholm advancing to the final for the only time in 2023 – the Löberöd native returned to form following the mid-season switch to the ZEROID X1, impressing most notably in the double-header Hong Kong finale, where she made history once again as the first female driver ever to top a heat session in World RX.
