Veiby hyped for World RX’s Hong Kong debut

Ole Christian Veiby is excited to travel to Hong Kong for the 2023 FIA World Rallycross Championship finale next month (11-12 November), predicting that the city’s Central Harbourfront circuit will be ‘an amazing place to end the season’.

Veiby heads to Hong Kong sitting sixth in the standings, and aiming to climb the table in his bid to improve upon his fourth-place championship finish from last year.

To do that, the Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS star will be targeting a more successful weekend behind the wheel of the ZEROID X1 than he enjoyed in Cape Town and – prior to that – during a one-off outing in the FIA RX2e Championship at Mettet, reaching the final just once from three starts in the car to-date.

World RX’s debut in the Asia-Pacific region will notably mark the first city centre event in the championship’s history. Veiby is hopeful that it will set the standard for others to follow.

“It’s going to be super-exciting to go to Hong Kong,” enthused the 27-year-old Norwegian. “I’ve never been there before, although I competed a bit in Asia in the FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championship in 2017. There’s a lot of passion and enthusiasm for motorsport in the region, so hopefully we can make rallycross big there, too.

“It’ll be fantastic to race on a track right in the middle of downtown and to really bring the sport to the fans. What an amazing place to end the season!”
