Taylor set for Mettet debut

Australian Molly Taylor will bring her vast motorsport experience to the grid in Mettet, Belgium this week (5 - 6 August), announcing her RX2e debut today (Tuesday).

The 2016 Australian Rally champion will line up for Hansen Motorsport’s #YellowSquad at World RX Benelux, whilst additionally confirming she will also compete at World RX of Germany, Estering from 19 - 20 August.

“RX2e is the ideal place to begin learning Rallycross with electric cars, combined with the opportunity to be part of the #YellowSquad team and learn from some of the best in the business,” explained the 35-year-old.

Taylor has acknowledged it will take some time to come to grips with the side-by-side racing but can call upon some of the most experienced drivers in the paddock for insight.

Competing with Johan Kristoffersson for Rosberg X Racing, the pair won the inaugural Extreme E. This season Taylor has joined forces with Kevin Hansen for Veloce Racing. After three rounds, they sit in third overall.

“Coming from a rally background, the side-by-side racing is something that is new to me so this is a great way for me to increase my experience with this type of racing, which I’m sure will translate across to Extreme E.”

Prior to travelling to Mettet, Taylor will have a small chance to familiarise herself with her car, with testing planned in Calafat, Spain.
