Veiby disqualified after Hansen clash

Veiby picked up a puncture during opening lap contact, compromising his pace, and when Hansen went for the inside going onto lap three, the pair came together, with the Peugeot catching a bump that sent it flying briefly into the air. The damage caused by the heavy landing means Hansen’s weekend is over.

Following a stewards’ enquiry, Veiby has been disqualified from the results of the heat, dropping him from fourth to sixth in the intermediate classification.

Hansen was fined €1,000 for ‘conduct after the incident [that] was not acceptable under any circumstances,’ having approached Veiby in his car at the end of the race in what stewards ruled was an ‘aggressive’ manner.
