French front-runner targeting graduation to Euro RX3

Former French Junior Rallycross Champion David Bouet is bidding to graduate to the European scene in 2023, with a season of Euro RX3 competition in prospect for the rising star.

A comparatively late starter in the sport, Bouet only began racing in 2016 after winning a competition organised by four-time FIA World Touring Car Champion, Yvan Muller. The Frenchman turned his attentions to rallycross in 2017, entering the domestic Junior series, but a budgetary shortfall forced him out of action midway through – and he did not return until 2021.

When he did rejoin the fray, however, Bouet did so with a bang, claiming three victories and two further podium finishes from seven outings to clinch the French Junior Championship crown. Last year, the Caen native placed third in his maiden campaign at Super1600 (RX3) level – triumphing at Lohéac along the way.

Having recently won the opening round of the 2023 Clio Ice Trophy season, Bouet is now working tirelessly in his efforts to become only the second French Junior Champion – after compatriot Cyril Raymond – to step up to the international stage.

“At the moment, my goal is to enter the European Championship,” affirmed the 28-year-old. “I’ve been dreaming of discovering the European circuits for a long time – they’re legendary – and I really want to gain experience on the European scene in order to continue my progression in the sport.

“We’re in the process of confirming everything, and we’re getting closer. I’m hoping to be able to finalise my plans this month.”
