Latvian entry lists out for World RX and Euro RX1

Following a show-stopping debut in Hell last weekend, the FIA World Rallycross Championship’s new electric era will race into Rīga for an action-packed double-header next month (3-4 September), with entries now official for World RX and Euro RX1.

The same eight contenders that did battle in Norway for the honour of going down in history as the World Championship’s first electric winner will return to the fray in Latvia, as Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS star Johan Kristoffersson bids to maintain his momentum and his adversaries endeavour to turn the tables.

Last year, victory in Rīga proved to be the catalyst for a late-season charge that ultimately culminated in Kristoffersson’s fourth career crown, so his rivals will need to be on top of their game if they are to stop the Swede in his tracks.

The Latvian capital will also play host to the fourth round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship’s Euro RX1 campaign, featuring a star-studded, 18-strong line-up.

The lion’s share of fans’ support will surely be reserved for the driver with the car bearing the lion logo – #YellowSquad’s Jānis Baumanis, who famously triumphed on home soil in 2021 and who will be aiming to close the gap in the title standings to runaway championship leader Anton Marklund (SET Promotion), who has won two of the three events to-date.

Peter Hedström and Mikko Ikonen will make their seasonal debuts behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta respectively.
