At least nine potential winners at Höljes, says Kristoffersson

He might be widely regarded as the pre-event favourite for glory, but four-time FIA World Rallycross Champion Johan Kristoffersson has picked out as many as nine potential winners in the headlining Euro RX1 category during Höljes’ eagerly-anticipated ‘Magic Weekend’ (2-3 July).

Kristoffersson is treating the event as a warm-up for the forthcoming World Championship campaign, when he will bid to clinch a fifth Drivers’ crown, having already prevailed in 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021. His target – as ever – is the top step of the podium, but he cautions that in the high-calibre, 25-strong Euro RX1 field, nothing can be taken for granted.

“I see Andreas Bakkerud, Enzo Ide, Anton Marklund, Jānis Baumanis, Ole Christian Veiby, Sondre Evjen, Oliver Solberg and Jean Baptiste Dubourg all as potential winners,” opined the Swede, who claimed a double victory on home soil at Höljes in RallyX Nordic earlier this year. “It will be good to be able to get used to the new racing format before the World Championship begins, and I really hope we see a real folk party with maybe 20-30,000 fans in the audience.”

Kristoffersson will be partnered under the Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS banner this weekend by young team-mate Gustav Bergström in a second Kristoffersson Motorsport-run VW Polo, which has benefitted from recent improvements and updates.

“Johan will of course go there to win and for Gustav, it will be a new chance to get to know the car and the competition concept,” reflected Team Manager, Tommy Kristoffersson. “It will be an exciting weekend with a strong and evenly-matched starting field.”

The Arvika-based outfit will similarly support Nils Andersson as the rising star embarks upon his maiden full campaign in the all-electric FIA RX2e Championship. Preparing to take to the track in his recently-named ‘Eloise’, the 22-year-old has said he has ‘a hard time seeing how I could come more prepared’.
