World RX #GOAT Top Ten Countdown: Kevin Hansen (10th)

A little while ago, we asked you for your thoughts on the best drivers since the inception of the FIA World Rallycross Championship back in 2014. You responded enthusiastically, with more than 15,000 votes cast in total – and now, in reverse order, we can reveal the top ten…

10th: Kevin Hansen

World RX Titles: 0
World RX Wins: 2
World RX Podiums: 14
Best Championship Finish: 3rd (2019)

The younger brother of 2019 FIA World Rallycross Champion Timmy Hansen and son of 14-time European Champion Kenneth Hansen, Kevin Hansen carved an impressive path up through the ranks on his way to the top flight, lifting the laurels in both the JRX Junior Rallycross Cup and RX Lites single-make series.

His World RX debut in Argentina in 2015 – aged just 17-and-a-half – made him the youngest driver ever to start a World Championship event in the dual-surface discipline, and he grabbed even more headlines when he advanced to the final in the 19-strong field.

The following season, four wins and a runner-up finish from five starts secured the Swede the Euro RX Supercar (now Euro RX1) crown at his first attempt, as well as the FIA ‘Rookie of the Year’ accolade at the end of the campaign.

Stepping up to World RX full-time, he placed eighth in the standings in both 2017 and 2018 before breaking through with a maiden victory in the Abu Dhabi opener in 2019. Four further rostrum results propelled him to third in the championship table, while playing a vital role in Team Hansen MJP’s successful acquisition of the Teams’ crown.

Hansen wound up fifth overall in 2020, going one better in 2021 as he added a second career triumph to his CV in the Catalunya curtain-raiser, missing the podium only twice in nine rounds.
