Hansen Motorsport Makes Remarkable Return to the World RX Grid
)
Hansen Motorsport will make a remarkable return to the FIA World Rallycross Championship grid at this weekend’s blockbuster World RX of Finland.
On Friday last week, the Swedish squad announced they would be forced to sit out the event due to an ongoing issue with a major partner, marking what would have been their first absence from a World RX round since the championship’s inception in 2014.
In a display of solidarity rarely seen in elite sport, series partner Volvo Construction Equipment stepped in to provide the vital backing required for Hansen to race. With financial support secured, one final obstacle remained: unanimous approval from the other World RX competitors, as regulations stipulate that any late entry must be ratified by all teams. The grid responded decisively, with KMS, PGRX and CE Dealer Team, putting rivalries aside to unanimously approve Hansen’s return.
What followed was a race against time, as the team undertook a near 1,000km dash from their base in Sweden to the KymiRing. Having arrived this morning, donning an all-new yellow livery, Hansen Motorsport are now ready to thrill Finnish fans at the spectacular new venue.
Their comeback boosts the World RX entry list to seven cars, restoring the split-grid qualifying format with Euro RX1 and World RX competitors once again battling in their respective categories.
With Hansen confirmed, all eyes now turn to Saturday’s crucial qualifying sessions that will set the stage for Sunday’s racing drama.

FIA Road Sport Director Emilia Abel said: "We are delighted to confirm that Hansen Motorsport will return to the grid at the World RX of Finland this weekend. This has been made possible thanks to the unanimous support of the teams and the valued backing of Volvo Construction Equipment. Their collective commitment underscores the strength and unity within the World RX paddock."
"We have been in close contact with the team over the past week to support them through the challenges they were facing and to work collaboratively towards a solution. Thanks to the support of Series Partner Volvo Construction Equipment, everyone at the FIA and across the World RX paddock is incredibly excited to see Hansen back on track."
“We would like to thank the rallycross community for coming together to make this happen for the benefit of the championship. It is rare in sport to see fierce rivals unite in this way, and it reflects the unique spirit of rallycross.”
