Bakkerud unveils innovative new livery for Euro RX1 title tilt
)
Andreas Bakkerud has officially unwrapped the Ford Fiesta ST RX43 with which he will aim to clinch a fourth FIA European Rallycross Championship crown in 2026, explaining that his ambitious new Bergen Motorsport Evolution project is about ‘building something bigger than myself’.
Bakkerud lifted the Super1600 category laurels in 2011 and 2012, prior to adding the Euro RX1 title to his glittering rallycross résumé a decade later. The forthcoming campaign will mark his first full season in the series in five years – and he is going in all guns blazing.
The 34-year-old Norwegian will race into battle behind the wheel of the same car with which Anton Marklund consummately conquered the European scene in 2023. His new Bergen Motorsport Evolution initiative – established just over a year ago – will additionally benefit from the support of SET Promotion, the Finnish outfit with which he secured his Super1600 successes.
His weapon of choice for the challenge ahead features a striking evolution of Bakkerud’s signature aesthetic, sporting a bold black-and-blue colour scheme. In a unique creative twist, the design incorporates intricate illustrations of every circuit on this year’s calendar, serving as a visual roadmap of the journey ahead.

“In my eyes, the livery looks sick!” enthused the seven-time FIA World Rallycross Championship event-winner, speaking during an official launch in his hometown of Bergen. “Informativ, my partner-in-crime throughout my career for branding and wrapping, has made it from the ground up.
“This isn’t just about returning to the grid; it’s about building something bigger than myself. Bergen Motorsport Evolution is the result of months of tireless work to create a professional platform that showcases the best of Norwegian racing talent and engineering.”
The team is now focussing upon its final preparations ahead of the opening round of the season at Rīga’s historic Biķernieku trase on 9-10 May. Following the curtain-raising contest in the Latvian capital, Euro RX competitors will subsequently lock horns at Nyirád in Hungary (30-31 May), Höljes in Sweden (4-5 July), Mondello Park in Ireland (18-19 July), Lohéac in France (29-30 August) and Lousada in Portugal, where champions will be crowned on 12-13 September.
