Norway’s Petter Solberg set the quickest time in Q4 at the World RX of Germany, the penultimate round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship and moved into TQ (top qualifier) position ahead of the semi-finals this afternoon.

Solberg will start on pole position for semi-final one, joined by Sweden’s Timmy Hansen, who was ninth fastest in Q4 after a battle on track with Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud. The Hoonigan Racing Division driver will also start in semi-final one after setting a fifth quickest time in in Q4. He will be joined on the second row by Finland’s Topi Heikkinen, while it will be an all Latvian affair on the third row, STARD’s Janis Baumanis and EKS’ Reinis Nitiss both making the semi-finals for the second event in a row.

2016 World Rallycross Champion Mattias Ekstrom jumped the start of Q4 race five and had to take two joker laps, but eighth quickest time was enough to be second in the Intermediate Classification and he will start on pole position for semi-final two, joined by 2017 World RX champion Johan Kristoffersson, who was third quickest in Q4.

The second row of the grid in semi-final two will be occupied by Kevin Hansen and Kevin Eriksson, Eriksson driving his MJP Racing Team Austria Ford Fiesta to fourth quickest in Q4. France’s Sebastien Loeb and Finland’s Niclas Gronholm will start together on row three, Gronholm winning Q4 race four to set the second quickest time and qualify 12th in the Intermediate Classification to make it into the semi-finals.
