Sweden’s Mattias Ekstrom set the quickest time in Q3 as the final morning of action in the French round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Loheac was hit by wet conditions. 

Ekstrom won race four of Q3 as the rain fell harder during the session and finished ahead of Timmy Hansen, who was second quickest. Both drivers moved up in the Intermediate Classification, Ekstrom to third and Hansen to fifth. 

Overnight leaders France’s Sebastien Loeb and Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson raced door-to-door in the first corner of race five, Kristoffersson taking the race lead before both drivers were passed by Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud, who won the race and ended up third quickest overall. Kristoffersson was fourth in Q3 and moved to the top of the Intermediate Classification. Sweden’s Kevin Eriksson made the best start in race three but crashed out at the exit of turn two after contact, Russia’s Timur Timerzyanov also losing time in the same race with broken suspension. 

With Q4 left to run this morning at Loheac, America’s Ken Block, Sweden’s Kevin Hansen, Latvia’s Janis Baumanis, Finland’s Topi Heikkinen, Germany’s Timo Scheider and Latvia’s Reinis Nitiss are all in the semi-final positions. Finland’s Niclas Gronholm, France’s Jean-Baptiste Dubourg and Switzerland’s Nico Muller, who was spun at turn one in Q3 are 13th, 14th and 15th
