For the second year in a row, France’s Sebastien Loeb will fill the mid-season break in the FIA World Rallycross Championship calendar between the Swedish and Canadian rounds to compete in the Silk Way Rally with Peugeot Sport.

Team Peugeot-Hansen driver Loeb finished on the podium at the World RX of Sweden in Holjes last weekend, his third podium of the season. “I had a good weekend in Sweden, I really enjoyed it,” said Loeb. “I had good pace and we were in the fight. I had a good feeling with the car and the track is really great, so it was good fun to drive and we had some good battles. Again we were in third place, I’m happy but we need to find a little bit more.”

Loeb flew to Russia to take part in the Silk Way Rally just three days after standing on the podium in Sweden, where he will swap his regular Peugeot 208 WRX to drive the latest specification Peugeot 3008DKR Maxi on the event that runs from Russia to China, over 11,000 kilometers. The rally gets underway from Moscow on Friday. “My diary is quite packed ahead of the next round in Canada. I will not have a lot of time to test my rallycross car, but maybe I can take some experiences on the Silk Way Rally,” continued Loeb. “It’s interesting, something complete different, it’s a long way and it takes a lot of time. It’s really another kind of advantage and I’m really looking forward to it.”
