A number of FIA World Rallycross Championship drivers will compete at Ken Block’s Gymkhana GRiD, The European Gauntlet this autumn, which for 2016 will take place at Marathon in Greece on the last weekend in October.

Two-time FIA World RX champion Petter Solberg will join Block at the event, along with Block’s Hoonigan Racing Division team mate and multiple World RX event winner, Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud. “I’m incredibly excited to announce that the next instalment of the Gymkhana GRiD: European Gauntlet series will be taking place in Greece later this year,” said Block. “When I started Gymkhana it was a way of testing my car control and basically having fun behind the wheel. Through hosting the Gymkhana GRiD competitions, and shooting the Gymkhana viral videos, it has grown beyond what I’d ever expected – which is fantastic.”

FIA European Rallycross Championship racer Riku Tahko will also take part. The Finn attended last year’s GRiD held at Santa Pod in the UK in a celebrity division and will return again this year, as will a number of Drift starts.  “Gymkhana GRiD has taken me all over the world, and I can’t wait to head out to Marathon in Greece now, to bring the series to a whole new audience again,” said Block. “Personally I’ve watched motorsport in Greece for a long time – like the Acropolis Rally - and the enthusiasm from the crowds is just on another level. I think it’s going to be a very special weekend for sure.”
