Sweden’s Robin Larsson will be pushing hard in the second semi-final today at Hockenheim, round two of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, as he targets his first final start of the season.

“The goal today is absolutely to get to the final, we don’t have a great position on the grid for the start but everything can happen in the rain, especially at the first corner and I really want it,” said the reigning Euro RX champion, who thinks the light rain today could play into his hands, starting from the second row of the grid.

“The rain makes this track really slippery, it’s really tough, but it’s the same for everybody. We have pretty good pace in the wet, but when the nerves are coming before the semi-finals and the rain is falling on the start line, it comes a lot down to luck I think. Hopefully the luck will be with us this time and we can get into the final.”

Racing his Audi A1 as an individual permanent entry in World RX this year, Larsson thinks the competition is fiercer than ever, and is looking forward to racing in front of the Hockenheim crowd.

“It’s very tough this year, even getting to the semi-finals is not easy. You need to be so consistent and set good times in all the races. The track here has been good and the joker lap works well for me. There should be a big crowd today, it will be really good.”
