Double FIA European Rallycross Champion Timur Timerzyanov announced earlier this week that he will race an OlsbergsMSE Ford Fiesta Supercar in the FIA World Rallycross Championship this season, running as an Individual Entry in the championship.

The Russian driver is looking forward to working with Ford OlsbergsMSE team drivers Andreas Bakkerud and Reinis Nitiss. “I get on really well with the guys, and we will share everything. Maybe at some points they will be faster and at others I will be faster, so we need to share the information. Even though I am not scoring points for the team, I hope they can do well. I will be really happy if Ford wins the teams championship again. I will try to help the guys with some of my knowledge – I’m not scared to give them everything that I have stored in my mind,” said Timerzyanov.

The move reunites the Russian driver with former team principle Jussi Pinomaki, the Finn’s Set Promotion team running Timerzyanov to Super1600 championship success in 2010, before he moved to Supercar with Hansen Motorsport and won the European Championship in 2012 and 2013 in a Citroen DS3. Last season, Timerzyanov raced for Team Peugeot-Hansen in the inaugural World Rallycross Championship. Pinomaki now works as team manager at OMSE. “Jussi taught me a lot when I was with him from 2009. It’s really good to work with him again; he gave me my first step in rallycross. As a driver, to be World Champion is my goal, but everybody I know everybody is the same. I know if everything goes well then I can do it.”

Timerzyanov topped the Intermediate Classification after day one in Portugal last season, and is confident that he can be straight on the pace next week at the World RX season opener. “Portugal is a track I really like. I’ve been so many times, I feel really comfortable there.”
