Ken BLOCK is BACK, and he will race a Ford Fiesta ERX in the first ever Projekt E Series event later this month at Holjes, as part of the first FIA World Rallycross Championship weekend of 2020 in Sweden (22 – 23).

Multiple-World RX podium finisher Block will be one of the first drivers ever to compete in the Projekt E Series – the leading support category for the FIA World Rallycross Championship and the first all-electric championship in rallycross when he takes the wheel of the all-electric STARD-built Fiesta ERX in Sweden.

“I am stoked to take part in the worldwide first ever electric rallycross race in the Projekt E series in a STARD Ford Fiesta ERX! The car is rad and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel in Holjes,” said the American driver.

Projekt E was officially launched at the Latvian round of the World RX last September in Riga. The four-wheel-drive electric kits for cars in the class have been created by Projekt E’s technical partner STARD, all cars using three electric motors producing 450kW (613bhp) combined power and 1002Nm of instantaneous torque and a top speed of 240km/h, using a four-wheel drive system and two-speed transmission fitted to both axles.

STARD CEO and founder Michael Sakowicz said: “We are very much looking forward to having Ken racing our Ford Fiesta ERX at Holjes. Not just because he is one of the most famous race drivers in the world and it shows the potential of Projekt E that the class is able to attract drivers like Ken, but also because he has vast experience of motorsport and rallycross and it will be very interesting to get his feedback. Ken has driven and raced in all kinds of crazy cars, but I really think he will be very impressed with the Fiesta ERX.”

The brand-new Fiesta ERX that Block will race has been given a special VIN (vehicle identification number), 043 in honour of Block’s debut in the car.
