Great Britain’s Oliver Bennett was one of the first drivers to be announced for the new World RX Esports Invitational earlier this week, where he will take the wheel of Xite Racing’s BMW Mini Cooper for the Barcelona RX Esports Invitational on Sunday, April 19 using DiRT Rally 2.0.

Bennett qualified for the semi-finals twice in the 2019 FIA World Rallycross Championship, and is targeting success driving the virtual version of his Xite team’s car on the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit.

"I haven’t done much sim racing up until now. We had Playseats through events with Xite Energy but they never made it back home to play on. But, I can’t wait, I have been doing a couple of races a week now and it’s so much fun with so much adrenaline,” Bennett said.

The Invitational events will pit some of the world’s best rallycross drivers against fans who qualify for in pre-qualifying events. “I quite like the pressure of people really wanting to beat their favourite driver,” he said. “It’s not easy, but it will be super fun and it’s all about the first corner. It’s so similar to real life, you just need to be consistent and watch out for people.”

The British driver says he is aiming for glory. “I’ll be aiming for success, I managed to win the Drivers’ Dirt Rally 2.0 Challenge at Silverstone last year, so hopefully we can do more of the same.” Meanwhile, Bennett and his company Xite Energy have been doing their bit to help out the NHS medical workers in the UK with deliveries of drinks to get them through their long days and nights on duty at frontline hospitals.
