This weekend the annual NGK Masters folkrace event takes place in Karlstad, Sweden, where a number of FIA World Rallycross Championship stars past and present will take to the circuit for some entry-level action.

Competition in the well-supported event at Kalvholmen is always fierce, and it’s unusual for World RX regulars to feature right at the front in their one off appearances. Apart from for folkrace specialist and 2019 World RX of Sweden winner Sebastian Eriksson, who has been on the NGK Masters podium several times and won the final in 2015 and 2016. Last year he finished sixth.

In the second of his wins, Eriksson finished in front of two-time World RX Drivers’ Champion Johan Kristoffersson, who like Eriksson returns this weekend. Kristoffersson finished 13th last season. 2019 Olsbergs MSE drivers Kevin Eriksson and Ulrik Linnemann also feature on the entry list, Linnemann driving a Peugeot, along with the Monster Energy RX Cartel drivers, Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud and Britain’s Liam Doran.

But, while Bakkerud will race this weekend, Doran has been forced to withdraw due to clashing commitments, his place on the start grid to be taken by FIA European Rallycross Championship star Thomas Bryntesson, who will drive a Volvo.

Bryntesson’s 2019 Euro RX rival, who claimed his second Euro RX crown this year, Sweden’s Robin Larsson, will compete in a Saab, along with multiple Swedish rallycross champion and Euro RX front-runner, Peter Hedstrom, along with many, many other drivers.
