Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud took quickest time in Q3 at the Bretagne World RX of France, round eight of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Loheac and moved into the TQ (top qualifier) position with one session to go before the semi-finals.

Monster Energy RX Cartel’s Bakkerud took the lead of Q3 race 1 in slippery track conditions at turns one and two and beat GRX Taneco’s Niclas Gronholm to win the race and take the quickest time.

Contact between GRX’s Timur Timerzyanov and Toomas ‘Topi’ Heikkinen, and Team Hansen MJP’s Timmy Hansen in the first two corners of race two slowed the three drivers as GC Kompetition’s Anton Marklund moved between them into the race led and was P2 in Q3, splitting Bakkerud and Gronholm.

EKS Sport’s Krisztian Szabo took the hole shot in race 3 with an outside move on World RX Drivers’ Championship leader Kevin Hansen and Team STARD’s Janis Baumanis, but after the joker lap strategies unfolded it was Hansen who took the win and P4, in front of Szabo and Great Britain’s Liam Doran.

After three Qs, Bakkerud, Heikkinen, Gronholm and Timmy Hansen are the top four drivers in the Intermediate Classification, as overnight TQ, GCK’s Rokas Baciuska, dropped to P5 with P17 time in Q3.
