Multiple Swedish Rallycross Champion Peter Hedstrom will race a new car alongside a new team mate in the first standalone FIA European Rallycross Championship event since 2013 at Estering in Germany this weekend.

Sweden’s Hedstrom will drive the Volkswagen Polo that Anton Marklund raced to second in the Euro RX points last season. Hedstrom will be joined by Christer Dalmans for round four of Euro RX in the Hedstroms Motorsport team, because Daniel Thoren has been forced to withdraw for the rest of the season and will return next year.

Hedstrom is planning to use the German round as a test event, as he looks to expand the Hedstroms Motorsport team for 2020, and take a more managerial and advisory role in the set up. “I am excited about what the car can deliver, not least to be able to develop the team in the future. We have a handful of drivers who are interested in driving our cars next year, the idea is to have two cars to start in the European Championships, but nothing is clear yet. We will use this European round as a test bench for the new Marklund car, we haven’t done one meter with it in dry conditions yet, so the whole team needs to get experience with the car, to get a feeling to convey to next year's driver in the team,” explained Hedstrom.

Dalmans has been racing in RallyX Nordic with the team this season and has qualified for the final twice in another Volkswagen Polo. He will make his European Championship debut at Estering. “I feel a little nervous, with all the big drivers. I had meant not to drive that much this year, but it's so fun when everything is right and the team delivers such a good car, which is why it feels extra exciting to be able to make my European debut,” he said.
