Sweden’s Kevin and Timmy Hansen have launched their own junior team called Yellow Squad by Hansen, another piece in the jigsaw of the FIA World Rallycross Championship front-runners plans for 2019.

The Hansen’s say they will use their experience of competing at the highest level in full factory programmes to help young drivers in their new Cross Car team, which will race at events in Scandinavia and RallyX Nordic this year. By setting up the new team, the pair are following in their father Kenneth Hansen’s footsteps by forming a team while still competing themselves, to give something back into the sport.

“Timmy and I are very excited to announce Yellow Squad by Hansen. We have been eager to launch a campaign like this for quite some time and to finally be able to deliver it is an incredible feeling. The team will focus on the next generation of drivers wanting to succeed in off-road racing,” said Team Manager Kevin Hansen. “We want to make sure our drivers can focus on what they are meant to do, drive a car as fast as possible. We aim to share our experiences in everything from how to eat correctly on a lazy day at home to evaluating the driving into the smallest of details. We strongly believe what we have done in the past and are doing right now is a good base to work from.”

After driving for Team Peugeot Hansen and then Team Peugeot Total in recent World RX seasons, Kevin Hansen is still targeting the World RX title. “My plan is to become the youngest ever FIA World Champion – 2019 would be a nice year for it,” said the youngest ever FIA European Rallycross Champion on his social media recently.

Five-time World RX race winner Timmy Hansen is looking forward to working with the young drivers this season alongside his own driving. “It will personally be a fun new challenge for me to run this team together with my brother,” he explained.
