FIA European Rallycross Champion Reinis Nitiss will compete in the RX2 International Series at the World RX of South Africa, the final round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in two weeks.

The youngest ever World RX race winner won the Euro RX Supercar title with victory in the final round in Riga in September, then raced a Sports Racing Technologies Supercar Lites car in the final round of RallyX Nordic in Sweden and challenged for victory.

Latvia's Nitiss competed in the inaugural World RX of South Africa with the EKS team last year. "I had driven an RX2 car two or three times before Latvian team Sports Racing Technologies approached me to join them for a race in Tierp. As you may know, Vasily Gryazin is racing a full RX2 season with the team. As my Euro RX season has already finished, I didn’t hesitate to take the opportunity – I know how valuable the second driver to a team is, and how much faster it makes the process of finding the right set-up," said 2014 World RX of Norway winner Nitiss.

"We had pretty good results in Tierp and we expanded our collaboration to South Africa. I know the circuit from last year, so that should play to my side. On the other hand, not to say that racing in Tierp was easy, but only a handful of RX2 regulars went to Tierp, so competition will be stronger in Cape Town. It will be a great test and benchmark for me as a driver, to see where I stand among the RX2 Series regulars."

RX2 is led by Sweden's Oliver Eriksson in front of Belgium’s Guillaume De Ridder with the seventh and final round remaining in South Africa.
