Team Peugeot Total’s Sebastien Loeb thinks optimising the start strategy of the Peugeot 208 WRX will be key to achieving success in the World RX of USA at Austin, Texas this weekend.

Loeb will start Q1 race one from second on the grid after the random draw that took place this afternoon, alongside GRX Taneco’s Timur Timerzyanov on pole position. Loeb’s Peugeot team mate Timmy Hansen will start fourth with PSRX Volkswagen Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson, who is hoping to secure his second World RX Drivers’ title at the Circuit of The Americas, on the outside.

“I think we have the potential [to win] but I think we need to optimise a bit the start strategy and try to get out in a good rhythm, in front if possible. I think we can win, but it’s always complicated in rallycross, you need to put everything together, have a good races and a good feeling,” said Loeb. “I didn’t have many opportunities in my career to drive in America, I think only two times with X Games and Pikes Peak. It’s nice to come here, it’s a nice place and I think rallycross here is quite popular so it’s nice to come with the World Championship.”

Olebergs MSE’s Robin Larsson will start in the middle of the Q1 race one grid. In race two, PSRX’s Petter Solberg will start on pole, next to EKS Audi Sport’s Mattias Ekstrom and Belgium’s Gregoire Demoustier. GRX’s Niclas Gronholm and Peugeot’s Kevin Hansen will complete the grid. In race three, OMSE’s Kevin Eriksson still start from pole, next to GC Kompetition’s Anton Marklund, Latvia’s Janis Baumanis, GCK’s Guerlain Chicherit and EKS’ Andreas Bakkerud.
