In the single weekends gap between Rounds 9 and 10 of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, a number of World RX drivers enjoyed success around the world.

Reigning World RX Drivers’ Champion and 2018 points leader Johan Kristoffersson claimed the Swedish Touring Car Championship title with victory in race one and fifth in race two at the series’ final round at Mantorp Park, at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTi. Heading into the weekend, Kristoffersson was second in the points, seven points off the lead but the race one victory lifted him into the Championship lead and when his main rival retired from race two, the Swede claimed his second STCC title. “The day panned out exactly as I had hoped. It feels fantastic to be crowned STCC champion for the second time. Particularly because I did not win the title away from the track, but on it. I would like to say a big thank you to the team, which provided me with an outstanding car,” said Kristoffersson.

In America, Team Peugeot Total driver Timmy Hansen won the Nitro Rallycross event in Utah. Racing a Peugeot 208 WRX, Hansen qualified on pole position for the final but lost the lead to EKS Audi Sport’s Mattias Ekstrom on lap one. Hansen took his joker on lap three then hunted his World RX rival down to take the lead when Ekstrom took his joker on the final lap, driving an Audi S1. Former World RX event winner and Americas Rallycross title challenger Tanner Foust finished third.

Kristoffersson, Hansen and Ekstrom will all be back in World RX action this weekend at the World RX of COTA, the Championship’s first ever event in the USA.
