Sebastien Loeb Racing’s Gregoire Demoustier and Comtoyou Racing’s Francois are counting on the home support this weekend as they prepare for their home round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Mettet this weekend.

Competing in an SLR Peugeot 208 as a permanent driver in 2018, Demoustier finished 16th and 15th in the opening two rounds of the season in Catalunya-Barcelona and Montalegre.

Returning to his home Mettet circuit for a second time this weekend following his programme of selected appearances last season, Demoustier is happy with the atmosphere in the team and is targeting a position in the semi-finals.

“Last year I needed to learn the track and the kind of cars, this year I know the car and I know the track. The goal is to improve mine and the cars level and to reach the semi-finals. The level is very high this year, I think it stronger than last year and there is less difference between cars, but the goal is to reach the semi-finals,” he said.

“Everything is going pretty well for us, we’ve had almost no problems with the car and we’re still developing it. I’m very happy with the team, everything is awesome and there is a good mood between everyone. I love it. I’ve been looking forward to this race the most, I have a lot of friends and family here which pushes me and I hope I will be able to make them happy.”

Former World Rally winner Duval is a regular competitor in his home round of World RX, scoring a best result of fifth in an Olsbergs MSE Ford Fiesta in 2016. This weekend he is racing an ex-EKS Audi S1 RX quattro for the Comtoyou team, which in turn makes its World RX debut having established itself as a force in touring cars.

“I’ve done three days of testing, which was really good,” said Duval. “One day in Loheac, one in Faleyras and here in Mettet. It’s a good car and I hope to go to the semi-finals.

“For sure that would be good but there are a lot of drivers who are very fast this year. Many spectators come here to Mettet and it’s a very nice weekend.”
