Petter Solberg and Mattias Ekstrom hold the advantage heading into the World RX of Catalunya-Barcelona final after clinching important wins in two action-packed semi-finals at a sun-drenched Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Solberg notched up his third race win of the weekend with a comprehensive victory in semi-final one, the Norwegian getting the jump at turn one and pulling away for a three second win over Johan Kristoffersson, who prevailed in a tight battle over Andreas Bakkerud, with all three progressing to the final.

They will be joined by Ekstrom, Sebastien Loeb and Niclas Gronholm after the trio benefited from a dramatic retirement for Timmy Hansen, who slowed with technical issues whilst leading.

Loeb originally missed the cut for the semi-final having been classified 13th after the qualifying races but would be called upon as first reserve when Kevin Hansen withdrew.
