The annual Race of Champions takes place this weekend, for the first time at Riyadh’s King Fahad International Stadium in Saudi Arabia, where FIA World Rallycross Champions Petter Solberg (Norway) and Johan Kristoffersson (Sweden) will take part.

The stadium event will include the return of the ‘crossover bridge’ on the two-lane parallel figure-of-eight circuit, where Kristoffersson and Solberg will participate in the Nations Cup on Friday and the individual Race of Champions on Saturday.

“It will be very exciting, it’s actually one of the best shows through the whole year for all the different drivers. (Juan Pablo) Montoya, we are coming for you, so watch out,” said two-time World RX Champion Solberg, who is taking part in the event for the fifth time. Solberg will team up with Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen as Team Nordic for the Nations Cup event, and reigning World RX Champion Johan Kristoffersson will join Joel Eriksson in Team Sweden.

“It’s going to be a big challenge for my first Race of Champions, but I’m looking foreward to seeing everyone there. It’s great to be there with so many champions, it’s going to be fun,” said Kristoffersson, who will compete against European F3 Champion Lando Norris and DTM Champion Rene Rast in the group stages on Saturday. Solberg will compete against IndyCar Champion Josef Newgarden and rally driver Yazeed Al-Rajhi.
